Is the state the source of the human rights of life, liberty, and property (the pursuit of happiness)? Definitely not. God is the only source from which these rights come from. No human can create life or any other right. Thus, since the state does not create the human rights, it is not the source of the human rights. This was also the belief of the Founding Fathers. They said in the Declaration of Independence “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” This was their belief because they knew that the only true Giver of rights was God. Since this was their belief they formed a government that realized God as the source of human rights. That government was the finest governmental system ever developed. If we wish to have a just government we all must realize the true Giver of our rights.
